Welcoming a Temporary Worker

Welcoming a gig worker into your team, even for a short period, requires a bit of preparation to ensure everything runs smoothly. Here's how to best prepare your team and workspace for their arrival and manage the shift effectively:

Preparing for the shift

Start Shift Codes: Have the start shift codes ready to give to the gig worker upon arrival. These codes, provided by the platform, are essential for tracking shift start times accurately.

Prepare the Workplace: Ensure that any necessary workspace, training materials, or supplies the gig worker might need are prepared in advance. This could include specific tools, safety gear, or access to certain areas of your workplace.

On-Site Contact: Confirm who the on-site contact will be for the gig worker. This person should be ready to welcome the worker at least 15 minutes before the start time and provide any initial guidance or answer questions.

Welcome the Worker: A warm welcome can set a positive tone for the shift. Introduce them to the team and show them around to make them feel comfortable and part of the team, even if it's just for a day.

Be Available: Make sure the gig worker knows how to reach you or the designated on-site contact during their shift. Being accessible is crucial in case they have questions or need assistance.

Training Materials: If the job requires specific knowledge or skills, have training materials or a brief orientation session ready to bring them up to speed quickly.

Supplies: Ensure all necessary work supplies are readily available. This might include logins for computer systems, safety equipment, or specialized tools.

Print the Timesheet: Utilize the Web Dashboard to print the timesheet for the workers. This helps keep track of hours worked and simplifies the process of confirming the shift's end.
